Manikawana House joins the Dhananjaya collection

An intimate guesthouse near Mas, the woodcarving village south of Ubud, is now managed by Dhananjaya Hospitality.

Manikawana House joins the Dhananjaya collection

Manikawana House is now part of the Dhananjaya Hospitality collection. It is a small, quiet guesthouse in the countryside south of central Ubud, and it is the kind of property we enjoy looking after most: personal in scale, rooted in its village, and easy to love for guests who want calm rather than crowds.

Where it is

The house sits in the residential area around Mas, a village known across Bali for its woodcarving heritage, roughly three miles from the centre of Ubud. The streets around it are calm and green, with gardens, orchid nurseries, local shops, warungs and a coffee shop within walking distance.

It is a practical base, too. Tegenungan Waterfall, the Rudana and ARMA museums and the Sacred Monkey Forest are all a short drive away, so guests can spend the day exploring and come back to somewhere peaceful in the evening.

The house

The design takes its cue from traditional Balinese building, with rich wooden ceilings and walls that give the rooms a warm, almost cabin-like feel. Large white beds, simple furnishings and soft lighting keep the mood restful, and the bedrooms look out over the garden.

There are two room types:

  • Superior King Room, with one full bed and one king bed
  • Deluxe King Room, with a single king bed

Every room is air-conditioned and soundproofed, with a flat-screen TV, a tea and coffee maker, and a private bathroom with free toiletries and a hairdryer. Some bathrooms include a bathtub alongside the shower.

Outside, guests have an outdoor area and a hot tub for warm tropical evenings. A living area with a couch and coffee table gives everyone a place to read or plan the next day.

A stay at Manikawana

Mornings start with an à la carte breakfast, served daily. Free WiFi runs throughout the property, and free private parking is available on site. It suits couples looking for a quiet escape, and travellers who want to be near Ubud's culture without staying in the middle of town.

What changes with Dhananjaya

For guests, the character of the house stays exactly as it is. Behind the scenes, Dhananjaya Hospitality now handles pricing, distribution across booking channels, reservations and guest communication. Guests can also book directly with us on the Dhananjaya booking engine.

A guesthouse of this size lives on the details: a clean room, a good breakfast and a host who answers quickly. That is where we put our attention.

We are glad to welcome Manikawana House to the collection.
